The Lengths to Which God's Love Goes

When we think of Christ dying on the cross we are shown the lengths to which God’s love goes in order to win us back to himself. We would almost think that God loved us more than he loves his Son! We cannot measure such love by any other standard. He is saying to us: I love you this much. The cross is the heart of the gospel. It makes the gospel good news: Christ died for us. He has stood in our place before God’s judgment seat. He has borne our sins. God has done something on the cross we could never do for ourselves. But God does something to us as well as for us through the cross. He persuades us that he loves us. -Sinclair Ferguson

Grace Available

Opportunities to meet with women in our church through Pep Talk are still available. The last Pep Talk meeting is scheduled for mid-March and there are plenty of women available to meet up until then. Much grace is available in being within earshot of women who know and love the Lord. Pep Talk provides that context. So if you haven't already signed up, please give it another consideration. We trust you won't be disappointed. Sign ups are found on the left of this page under "Pep Talk."

What's in a Name?

Without trying to master the obvious, the name of this blog and ministry comes from the verse you see at the top. What a common and familiar verse; I bet most of you could easily recite it off the top of your head. Yet if you stopped to really consider it, reciting or reading it slowly for effect, the truths it holds are incredible: The steadfast love of the Lord NEVER ceases; His mercies NEVER come to an end. Wow! Sweet indeed!

Thank you for joining us in our excitement over Sweet Mercies! It is a small beginning and how grateful we are that you've received it warmly. Over 40 women will be participating in studies beginning on the 16th, and over 50 women are participating in Pep Talk. The Lord has been kind to bring us together.

Sign ups for the studies end this Sunday, February 12th. You still have time to consider if you have grace to participate this time around. Pep Talk does not have a sign up deadline. There are still women available who are eager to encourage you.

And speaking of encouragement, might you be blessed by this J.C. Ryle quote:

Stick to that word "never." It is worth its weight in gold. Cling to it as a drowning man clings to a rope. Grasp it firmly, as a soldier attacked on all sides grasps his sword. God has said, and will stand to it, "I will never leave you!"

"Never!" Though your heart often faints, and you are sick of self, and your many failures and infirmities; even then the promise will not fail.

"Never!" Though the devil whispers, 'I shall have you at last! In little while, your faith will fail, and you will be mine!' Even then, God will keep his Word.

"Never!" Though waves of trouble go over your head, and all hope seems taken away. Even then the Word of God will stand.

"Never!" When the cold chill of death is creeping over you, and friends can do no more, and you are starting on that journey from which there is no return. Even then—Christ will not forsake you.

"Never!" When the Day of Judgment comes, and the books are opened, and the dead are rising from their graves, and eternity is beginning. Even then the promise will bear all your weight. Christ will not leave his hold on your soul.
