At last Sunday's Sweet Mercies meeting we were MORE THAN blessed to hear testimonies from a few of the older saints among us. Shirley Wratten, Nancy Black, Peggy Poindexter and Kay Mansfield honored us with stories of God's faithfulness from their lives. To listen, please click here.

The recording is not very clear. It will help to turn up the volume while listening. You will be blessed to hear from these dear women who walk with us.

Bible Study!

Bible Study is back and we are so grateful for another opportunity to dive into God's Word together! We'll be digging into the book of Deuteronomy and are excited to be in the Old Testament this time around.

Deuteronomy is a series of sermons Moses preached after almost four decades of reflecting on God's grace from Genesis through Numbers. It provides a comprehensive look at what it means to live distinctively because of the grace of God; at how grace actually changes the way in which we live. And it’s all about Jesus!! When Jesus walked with the disciples after His resurrection, unrecognized by them, He said this: And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. Even Jesus testified that the book of Deuteronomy is about Him! We can't wait to jump into this book.

Loved; We Love

We had a wonderful time of fellowship at our Sweet Mercies meeting last Sunday night! Wendy created a Trifle Bar which was both beautiful and delicious! In addition, each table was decorated with a sweet flower pot and each pot was given away at the end of our evening. On top of that, we gave away a number of bible study books, a gift certificate to Home Depot and a gift certificate for a pedicure! The fellowship was rich and we literally closed down the place!

But the best part of all was hearing from Eric. His message was entitled, "Loved; We Love" and it was outstanding! Please don't miss it- you will be richly blessed. You can listen to it HERE.

We hope to see you a few evenings this summer at our Sweet Summer Evenings! You'll find more information about those evenings in the blog post below. We also hope to see you at our next Sweet Mercies meeting on August 18th. The theme of that evening will be FAITH.

Grace to you!

Linda's Testimony

Here is Linda Benson's testimony from our Sweet Mercies meeting last Sunday night. Give a listen and be very encouraged! You can find it HERE.

In addition, you'll find Linda's quotes to the left under Pep Talk. It will bless you to meditate on the sweet truth found there.

What a sweet time of fellowship was had Sunday night! We were grateful to see so many of you, and missed those who were unable to be there. Linda Benson's testimony of a FAITHFUL GOD was wonderfully encouraging! The quotes she read will soon be posted here, along with the audio of her testimony. Keep an eye out for both. You won't want to miss it!

The word HOPE is commonly thought of as wishful thinking- we wish something would happen but we don’t necessarily expect it to. But Scripture’s definition of HOPE is so, so different from this. HOPE in the bible means to know it will happen- to have an absolute conviction, a certainty, a confident expectation. The word originally carried the sense of a rope; strengthened by being bound together. It signified a trust placed in something unbreakable; Someone unbreakable. Biblical HOPE is "the anticipation of a favorable outcome under God’s guidance." The saying, “Hope for the best but prepare for the worst,” is antithetical to Scripture’s definition of HOPE. So if HOPE is a CONFIDENT EXPECTATION, what reasonable grounds do we have to be so confident? We have this:

“He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?”

That’s it! We really are a simple people with a simple faith, aren’t we? We have set our entire lives on one event that happened over 2000 years ago. The Great Exchange is how we know it- Christ lived the perfect life we could never live, FOR US, and died a sinner’s death that we deserved, IN OUR PLACE, that we might be reconciled to God. That’s why our souls are anchored today in the midst of various kinds of trials, BECAUSE He did not spare His own Son but gave him up for us all! BUT LISTEN! That event was not to make us confident in our salvation only; it was the YES and AMEN to everything that is written in Scripture's pages! The rest of that verse states emphatically: “How will He not also with Him graciously give us all things?” It seems our confidence can often lie only in the first part of that verse, not the second. We are more convinced that we are going to heaven than that He will supply all our needs today and tomorrow, or that He will never leave us, or forsake us or that He will make us run but not grow weary. But because He did the first thing, He will INDEED do the second. So let us scour His Word to find what He promises us, trusting that if He did the greater, He will CERTAINLY do the lesser.

The bible has been described as Christ’s last will and testament. We should read it as such! It tells us what He has done for us and what He has left to us. It gives an accounting of our inheritance. Everything in it is as blood-bought as our salvation. It could be said that every promise of God to you drips with Christ’s blood for you. Vague knowledge about what He says of Himself and what He’s given us will result in vague hope. Let us not have vague HOPE!! Romans says,

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

And Hebrews tells us it is impossible for God to lie,

so we flee to His word for refuge that we might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul. AMEN!

New Mercies for a New Year

Happy New Year! It's with eager expectation that we look to 2013 and the fellowship opportunities that await us. This year's theme for Sweet Mercies is HOPE, FAITH and LOVE. Please join us on January 27th as we consider HOPE and Scripture's promise that it will not put us to shame. Here are this winter's highlights:

Sweet Mercies. This month's Sweet Mercies meeting gives us the occasion to join together and consider the hope that lives in us. We'll have the pleasure of hearing Linda Benson testify to God's steadfast faithfulness through continued difficulty. Hope can feel like a slippery thing, especially when trials run long and hard. But Scripture calls hope a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul and we look forward to having our hope renewed as we meet together. It is our prayer that all will leave this evening with strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us.

Colossians. Beginning in February we will be offering a morning and evening bible study delving into Paul's wonderful letter to the Colossians. There aren't many things sweeter than women studying the Word together. Those in attendance are certain to be blessed. For more information or to sign up, please click on the Colossians link to the left.

Pep Talk. We have another opportunity to be encouraged by the wonderful, wonderful women in our church! Sign ups will begin after our Sweet Mercies meeting on the 27th. No one will want to miss this opportunity to be encouraged by the Lord through these dear women. Be on the lookout!

We hope you're able to join us as we fix our eyes on Jesus in 2013!
